Now in the lands of Shinar, by the waters of Diyalah, did Nimrod the son of Cush rule, for he had built up the waste places, and Babel was made prince among all the cities of the plain.

Summary:
 The “waters of Diyalah” may likely refer to the present-day Diyala River, which feeds into the Tigris river just south of Baghdad. According to the book of Beginnings, this was the relative location of the ancient city of Babel (B:25:1).
