Haman

Pronunciation:  HAY-muhn

Occurrences:  1

First Reference:  Yeshua 11:37

For this cause do you celebrate the Feast of Purim in joy and thanksgiving; for in the woman Esther did God deliver Israel from Haman who desired the death of all the Jews.

See:  Esther, Purim

Summary:  According to the Hebrew Bible, Haman was a political advisor to King Xerxes I, who plotted to kill all the Jews in the Persian Empire. The plan was foiled by Queen Esther, who pleaded to the king for the lives of the Jewish people. In a discussion regarding women’s rights, Yeshua mentions Esther as an example to show the inherent power and worthiness of women (Y:11:29-56).
