Now when it was about noon-day, there approached unto Yeshua two sisters which were twins, whose names were Maximilla and Prisca.

Summary: Twin sisters of the house of Jakobis, Maximilla and Prisca invited Yeshua to stay at their property while he was teaching in the city of Tyre in Lebanon (Y:21:52-53). Their father, Jakobis, was a wealthy dye merchant. When the sisters presented Yeshua with a purple robe with which to honor him, Yeshua graciously refused the gift, stating that if they truly wished to honor him, they should sell the robe in the marketplace and give the money to the poor (Y:22:66-69).

More than a year later, while Yeshua was teaching in Ephraim, he was approached by a distraught couple — the woman of which had fled an arranged and abusive marriage (Y:40:1–8). Against the judgments of his disciples, Yeshua gave to the young couple the signet ring of the house of Jakobis and advised them to travel to Tyre and give the ring to Maximilla and Prisca with the message: “Thus speaks the Lord Yeshua of Nazareth unto thee: Receive for my sake the man and the woman, for they shall prove profitable unto all your house” (Y:40:9-15).

According to Azrael’s Commentary, Yeshua “sent Rufinius with [the couple] to protect and watch over them on their journey. As a result, Rufinius was absent during the arrest and crucifixion of Yeshua” (AZC — Rufinius).
