GLOSSARY
Pronunciation: DZHO-sef
Occurrences: 2
First Reference: Yeshua 20:21-22
Have you not read how that Joseph was made to serve in Pharaoh’s court, being made second only to the king?
Was not Pharaoh’s house the house of Gentiles also? Which among you, therefore, would think Joseph unclean because he dwelt in the house of Gentiles?
Summary: When Yeshua entered the house of Porcius and Salome, residents of Caesarea Philippi, certain scribes and Pharisees rebuked him, asking why he would make himself “unclean by entering the house of Gentiles and sinners” (Y:20:15-16). Yeshua called out their hypocrisy, citing several examples found in Jewish scripture in which various individuals considered to be prophets of God communed with Gentiles and sinners. Joseph, the son of Jacob, was included among those mentioned by Yeshua.
