Summary: The region of Auranitis was part of the northeastern province of Judea which came under the rule of Herod the Great in 37 BCE, then later inherited by his son Herod Philip (Philip the Tetrarch) in 4 BCE as part of the Herodian Tetrarchy (see: MAP).
