Levi (father of John)

Pronunciation:  LEE-vai

Occurrences:  4

First Reference:  Yeshua 31:1

Now there came secretly in the night unto Bethany, a ruler of the Jews whose name was Nicodemus; and with him also came John, the son of Levi from the city of Emmaus.

See:  Cleopas, John (son of Levi)

Summary:  Levi is mentioned only in reference to his son John, who was one of Yeshua’s most devoted followers. The Sunday following the crucifixion, John and Cleopas (Levi’s steward) were traveling to Emmaus, when they came upon a fellow sojourner whom they helped and invited to sup with them. It wasn’t until the man blessed and broke the bread that John and Cleopas realized the man was the resurrected Yeshua (Y:48:19-27).
