Purim (feast)

Pronunciation:  POO-rihm

Occurrences:  3

First Reference:  Yeshua 11:37

For this cause do you celebrate the Feast of Purim in joy and thanksgiving; for in the woman Esther did God deliver Israel from Haman who desired the death of all the Jews.

See:  Esther

Summary:  Purim is a Jewish festival celebrated on the 14th or 15th day of the Hebrew month of Adar in commemoration of the deliverance of the Jews in Persia from destruction by Haman.

In an effort to teach concerning the power and equality of women, Yeshua reminded his disciples of the woman Esther, and how through her, God delivered Israel from Haman (Y:11:36-37).

Scriptural mention of the Feast of Purim help construct a timeline of Yeshua’s ministry (Y:28:1; Y:39:1).

Notes/References:

Have you not read how that Xerxes, while he was yet lord over all the earth, being king in Persia, granted unto Esther the life of all Israel?

For this cause do you celebrate the Feast of Purim in joy and thanksgiving; for in the woman Esther did God deliver Israel from Haman who desired the death of all the Jews.
