Summary: Located in the northern part of modern-day Israel, Galilee was one of two regions that came under the rule of Herod Antipas following the death of his father, Herod the Great in 4 BCE. Yeshua grew up in Nazareth, a city located in lower Galilee, and later taught extensively throughout the region during his ministry. Following his resurrection, Yeshua established the gnostic church in both Nazareth and Jerusalem (located in Judea), appointing Cephas and James as bishops (Yeshua 52:33-46).
